After more than eight months of research and development, Google has unveiled its most powerful A.I. so far. But only parts of it are widely available.

Google recently unveiled Gemini AI, its latest large language model, designed to be more powerful and capable than its predecessor. The new LLM comes in three sizes: Nano, Pro, and Ultra, catering to various needs of the users. Nano has been developed for fast on-device tasks, Pro serves as a versatile middle-tier, and Ultra is the most powerful. However, it is still undergoing safety checks and will be available next year.

Gemini comes in three sizes, Ultra, Pro and Nano, allowing it to run on anything ranging from mobile devices to data centers.

The rollout of Gemini to Bard will take place over two phases. Initially, Bard will be upgraded with a specifically tuned version of Gemini Pro. Next year, Google will introduce Bard Advanced, which will give users access to the best AI model, starting with Gemini Ultra.

The version of Bard with Gemini Pro will first become available in English in more than 170 countries and territories worldwide, with more languages and countries, including the EU and U.K., soon.

State-of-the-art performance

We’ve been rigorously testing our Gemini models and evaluating their performance on a wide variety of tasks. From natural image, audio and video understanding to mathematical reasoning, Gemini Ultra’s performance exceeds current state-of-the-art results on 30 of the 32 widely-used academic benchmarks used in large language model (LLM) research and development.

With a score of 90.0%, Gemini Ultra is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU (massive multitask language understanding), which uses a combination of 57 subjects such as math, physics, history, law, medicine and ethics for testing both world knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Our new benchmark approach to MMLU enables Gemini to use its reasoning capabilities to think more carefully before answering difficult questions, leading to significant improvements over just using its first impression.

Gemini surpasses state-of-the-art performance on a range of benchmarks including text and coding.

Gemini Ultra also achieves a state-of-the-art score of 59.4% on the new MMMU benchmark, which consists of multimodal tasks spanning different domains requiring deliberate reasoning.

With the image benchmarks we tested, Gemini Ultra outperformed previous state-of-the-art models, without assistance from object character recognition (OCR) systems that extract text from images for further processing. These benchmarks highlight Gemini’s native multimodality and indicate early signs of Gemini’s more complex reasoning abilities.

See more details in our Gemini technical report.

Gemini surpasses state-of-the-art performance on a range of multimodal benchmarks.

Next-generation capabilities

Until now, the standard approach to creating multimodal models involved training separate components for different modalities and then stitching them together to roughly mimic some of this functionality. These models can sometimes be good at performing certain tasks, like describing images, but struggle with more conceptual and complex reasoning.

We designed Gemini to be natively multimodal, pre-trained from the start on different modalities. Then we fine-tuned it with additional multimodal data to further refine its effectiveness. This helps Gemini seamlessly understand and reason about all kinds of inputs from the ground up, far better than existing multimodal models — and its capabilities are state of the art in nearly every domain.

Learn more about Gemini’s capabilities and see how it works.

Sophisticated reasoning

Gemini 1.0’s sophisticated multimodal reasoning capabilities can help make sense of complex written and visual information. This makes it uniquely skilled at uncovering knowledge that can be difficult to discern amid vast amounts of data.

Its remarkable ability to extract insights from hundreds of thousands of documents through reading, filtering and understanding information will help deliver new breakthroughs at digital speeds in many fields from science to finance.

Gemini unlocks new scientific insights

Understanding text, images, audio and more

Gemini 1.0 was trained to recognize and understand text, images, audio and more at the same time, so it better understands nuanced information and can answer questions relating to complicated topics. This makes it especially good at explaining reasoning in complex subjects like math and physics.

Gemini explains reasoning in math and physics

Advanced coding

Our first version of Gemini can understand, explain and generate high-quality code in the world’s most popular programming languages, like Python, Java, C++, and Go. Its ability to work across languages and reason about complex information makes it one of the leading foundation models for coding in the world.

Gemini Ultra excels in several coding benchmarks, including HumanEval, an important industry-standard for evaluating performance on coding tasks, and Natural2Code, our internal held-out dataset, which uses author-generated sources instead of web-based information.

Gemini can also be used as the engine for more advanced coding systems. Two years ago we presented AlphaCode, the first AI code generation system to reach a competitive level of performance in programming competitions.

Using a specialized version of Gemini, we created a more advanced code generation system, AlphaCode 2, which excels at solving competitive programming problems that go beyond coding to involve complex math and theoretical computer science.

Gemini excels at coding and competitive programming

When evaluated on the same platform as the original AlphaCode, AlphaCode 2 shows massive improvements, solving nearly twice as many problems, and we estimate that it performs better than 85% of competition participants — up from nearly 50% for AlphaCode. When programmers collaborate with AlphaCode 2 by defining certain properties for the code samples to follow, it performs even better.

We’re excited for programmers to increasingly use highly capable AI models as collaborative tools that can help them reason about the problems, propose code designs and assist with implementation — so they can release apps and design better services, faster.

See more details in our AlphaCode 2 technical report.

More reliable, scalable and efficient

We trained Gemini 1.0 at scale on our AI-optimized infrastructure using Google’s in-house designed Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) v4 and v5e. And we designed it to be our most reliable and scalable model to train, and our most efficient to serve.

On TPUs, Gemini runs significantly faster than earlier, smaller and less-capable models. These custom-designed AI accelerators have been at the heart of Google’s AI-powered products that serve billions of users like Search, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Play and Android. They’ve also enabled companies around the world to train large-scale AI models cost-efficiently.

Today, we’re announcing the most powerful, efficient and scalable TPU system to date, Cloud TPU v5p, designed for training cutting-edge AI models. This next generation TPU will accelerate Gemini’s development and help developers and enterprise customers train large-scale generative AI models faster, allowing new products and capabilities to reach customers sooner.

A row of Cloud TPU v5p AI accelerator supercomputers in a Google data center.

Built with responsibility and safety at the core

At Google, we’re committed to advancing bold and responsible AI in everything we do. Building upon Google’s AI Principles and the robust safety policies across our products, we’re adding new protections to account for Gemini’s multimodal capabilities. At each stage of development, we’re considering potential risks and working to test and mitigate them.

Gemini has the most comprehensive safety evaluations of any Google AI model to date, including for bias and toxicity. We’ve conducted novel research into potential risk areas like cyber-offense, persuasion and autonomy, and have applied Google Research’s best-in-class adversarial testing techniques to help identify critical safety issues in advance of Gemini’s deployment.

To identify blindspots in our internal evaluation approach, we’re working with a diverse group of external experts and partners to stress-test our models across a range of issues.

To diagnose content safety issues during Gemini’s training phases and ensure its output follows our policies, we’re using benchmarks such as Real Toxicity Prompts, a set of 100,000 prompts with varying degrees of toxicity pulled from the web, developed by experts at the Allen Institute for AI. Further details on this work are coming soon.

To limit harm, we built dedicated safety classifiers to identify, label and sort out content involving violence or negative stereotypes, for example. Combined with robust filters, this layered approach is designed to make Gemini safer and more inclusive for everyone. Additionally, we’re continuing to address known challenges for models such as factuality, grounding, attribution and corroboration.

Responsibility and safety will always be central to the development and deployment of our models. This is a long-term commitment that requires building collaboratively, so we’re partnering with the industry and broader ecosystem on defining best practices and setting safety and security benchmarks through organizations like MLCommons, the Frontier Model Forum and its AI Safety Fund, and our Secure AI Framework (SAIF), which was designed to help mitigate security risks specific to AI systems across the public and private sectors. We’ll continue partnering with researchers, governments and civil society groups around the world as we develop Gemini.

GPT-4 Turbo is their latest generation model. It’s more capable, has an updated knowledge cutoff of April 2023 and introduces a 128k context window (the equivalent of 300 pages of text in a single prompt). The model is also 3X cheaper for input tokens and 2X cheaper for output tokens compared to the original GPT-4 model. The maximum number of output tokens for this model is 4096.

OopenAI shared their updates via a DevDay talk. We will share the video below the main updates. These are the main take aways form their talk.

Today, we shared dozens of new additions and improvements, and reduced pricing across many parts of our platform. These include:

New GPT-4 Turbo model that is more capable, cheaper and supports a 128K context window

New Assistants API that makes it easier for developers to build their own assistive AI apps that have goals and can call models and tools

New multimodal capabilities in the platform, including vision, image creation (DALL·E 3), and text-to-speech (TTS)

We’ll begin rolling out new features to OpenAI customers starting at 1pm PT today.

Learn more about OpenAI DevDay announcements for ChatGPT.

GPT-4 Turbo with 128K context

We released the first version of GPT-4 in March and made GPT-4 generally available to all developers in July. Today we’re launching a preview of the next generation of this model, GPT-4 Turbo.

GPT-4 Turbo is more capable and has knowledge of world events up to April 2023. It has a 128k context window so it can fit the equivalent of more than 300 pages of text in a single prompt. We also optimized its performance so we are able to offer GPT-4 Turbo at a 3x cheaper price for input tokens and a 2x cheaper price for output tokens compared to GPT-4.

GPT-4 Turbo is available for all paying developers to try by passing
gpt-4-1106-preview
in the API and we plan to release the stable production-ready model in the coming weeks.

Function calling updates

Function calling lets you describe functions of your app or external APIs to models, and have the model intelligently choose to output a JSON object containing arguments to call those functions. We’re releasing several improvements today, including the ability to call multiple functions in a single message: users can send one message requesting multiple actions, such as “open the car window and turn off the A/C”, which would previously require multiple roundtrips with the model (learn more). We are also improving function calling accuracy: GPT-4 Turbo is more likely to return the right function parameters.

Improved instruction following and JSON mode

GPT-4 Turbo performs better than our previous models on tasks that require the careful following of instructions, such as generating specific formats (e.g., “always respond in XML”). It also supports our new JSON mode, which ensures the model will respond with valid JSON. The new API parameter
response_format
enables the model to constrain its output to generate a syntactically correct JSON object. JSON mode is useful for developers generating JSON in the Chat Completions API outside of function calling.

Reproducible outputs and log probabilities

The new
seed
parameter enables reproducible outputs by making the model return consistent completions most of the time. This beta feature is useful for use cases such as replaying requests for debugging, writing more comprehensive unit tests, and generally having a higher degree of control over the model behavior. We at OpenAI have been using this feature internally for our own unit tests and have found it invaluable. We’re excited to see how developers will use it. Learn more.

We’re also launching a feature to return the log probabilities for the most likely output tokens generated by GPT-4 Turbo and GPT-3.5 Turbo in the next few weeks, which will be useful for building features such as autocomplete in a search experience.

Updated GPT-3.5 Turbo

In addition to GPT-4 Turbo, we are also releasing a new version of GPT-3.5 Turbo that supports a 16K context window by default. The new 3.5 Turbo supports improved instruction following, JSON mode, and parallel function calling. For instance, our internal evals show a 38% improvement on format following tasks such as generating JSON, XML and YAML. Developers can access this new model by calling
gpt-3.5-turbo-1106
in the API. Applications using the
gpt-3.5-turbo
name will automatically be upgraded to the new model on December 11. Older models will continue to be accessible by passing
gpt-3.5-turbo-0613
in the API until June 13, 2024. Learn more.

Assistants API, Retrieval, and Code Interpreter

Today, we’re releasing the Assistants API, our first step towards helping developers build agent-like experiences within their own applications. An assistant is a purpose-built AI that has specific instructions, leverages extra knowledge, and can call models and tools to perform tasks. The new Assistants API provides new capabilities such as Code Interpreter and Retrieval as well as function calling to handle a lot of the heavy lifting that you previously had to do yourself and enable you to build high-quality AI apps.

This API is designed for flexibility; use cases range from a natural language-based data analysis app, a coding assistant, an AI-powered vacation planner, a voice-controlled DJ, a smart visual canvas—the list goes on. The Assistants API is built on the same capabilities that enable our new GPTs product: custom instructions and tools such as Code interpreter, Retrieval, and function calling.

A key change introduced by this API is persistent and infinitely long threads, which allow developers to hand off thread state management to OpenAI and work around context window constraints. With the Assistants API, you simply add each new message to an existing
thread
.

Assistants also have access to call new tools as needed, including:

Code Interpreter: writes and runs Python code in a sandboxed execution environment, and can generate graphs and charts, and process files with diverse data and formatting. It allows your assistants to run code iteratively to solve challenging code and math problems, and more.

Retrieval: augments the assistant with knowledge from outside our models, such as proprietary domain data, product information or documents provided by your users. This means you don’t need to compute and store embeddings for your documents, or implement chunking and search algorithms. The Assistants API optimizes what retrieval technique to use based on our experience building knowledge retrieval in ChatGPT.

Function calling: enables assistants to invoke functions you define and incorporate the function response in their messages.

As with the rest of the platform, data and files passed to the OpenAI API are never used to train our models and developers can delete the data when they see fit.

You can try the Assistants API beta without writing any code by heading to the Assistants playground.

Use the Assistants playground to create high quality assistants without code.

The Assistants API is in beta and available to all developers starting today. Please share what you build with us (@OpenAI) along with your feedback which we will incorporate as we continue building over the coming weeks. Pricing for the Assistants APIs and its tools is available on our pricing page.

New modalities in the API

GPT-4 Turbo with vision

GPT-4 Turbo can accept images as inputs in the Chat Completions API, enabling use cases such as generating captions, analyzing real world images in detail, and reading documents with figures. For example, BeMyEyes uses this technology to help people who are blind or have low vision with daily tasks like identifying a product or navigating a store. Developers can access this feature by using
gpt-4-vision-preview
in the API. We plan to roll out vision support to the main GPT-4 Turbo model as part of its stable release. Pricing depends on the input image size. For instance, passing an image with 1080×1080 pixels to GPT-4 Turbo costs $0.00765. Check out our vision guide.

DALL·E 3

Developers can integrate DALL·E 3, which we recently launched to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, directly into their apps and products through our Images API by specifying
dall-e-3
as the model. Companies like Snap, Coca-Cola, and Shutterstock have used DALL·E 3 to programmatically generate images and designs for their customers and campaigns. Similar to the previous version of DALL·E, the API incorporates built-in moderation to help developers protect their applications against misuse. We offer different format and quality options, with prices starting at $0.04 per image generated. Check out our guide to getting started with DALL·E 3 in the API.

Text-to-speech (TTS)

Developers can now generate human-quality speech from text via the text-to-speech API. Our new TTS model offers six preset voices to choose from and two model variants,
tts-1
and
tts-1-hd
.
tts
is optimized for real-time use cases and
tts-1-hd
is optimized for quality. Pricing starts at $0.015 per input 1,000 characters. Check out our TTS guide to get started.

How can I get access to it?

Anyone with an OpenAI API account has access. The model can be accessed by passing
gpt-4-1106-preview
as the model name in the API.

Definitely one of the most engaging talks we’ve listened to on the subject and also very informative.

My favorite quote out of this talk is definitely when Elon is trying to explain the difference between Large Language Models and normal conventional development. He states that possibilities with an LLM are way more with the responses in a comma seperated file (CSV).

So you meaning to tell me that our digital God is just a CSV file

Elon Musk – Referring to large data models unlike conventional programs if this then that.

They talk about government involvement in keeping AI safe by having them first test these models before allowing it on the open market. Elon Musk has been warning everyone about his fears of safety concerns with AI and it seems like people are finally taking note of this.

It’s also very refreshing to see that the Prime Minister of Britain is well versed in the topic. You can see his passion for what is possible with AI as he explains about the success they are having with deploying AI in their UK.GOV website.

The talk considers the good and the bad. They also talk about AI for education, and highlighted the point that everyone can have their own AI companion which can grow with you and teach you anything you want. If the AI has got memory of everything that ever happened in your life then this can be an amazing companion that maybe even knows you better than you know yourself.

We currently use very basic AI in website projects for support queries and obviously for content creation and self learning as well. We are very excited about the future of AI and think the good will outweigh the bad. That is why AI security is now more important than anything else at the stage we are at.

In this keynote Google announces some amazing new features to their products. They also promise a re-development on all their products thanks to the advancement of AI Developers and Large Training Models.

Below is a quick recap on what they discuss. Watch the video below.

AI in their products

“Help me write” in Gmail

There are some great examples of how generative AI is helping to evolve our products, starting with Gmail. In 2017, we launched Smart Reply, short responses you could select with just one click. Next came Smart Compose, which offered writing suggestions as you type. Smart Compose led to more advanced writing features powered by AI. They’ve been used in Workspace over 180 billion times in the past year alone. And now, with a much more powerful generative model, we’re taking the next step in Gmail with “Help me write.”

New Immersive View for routes in Maps

Since the early days of Street View, AI has stitched together billions of panoramic images, so people can explore the world from their device. At last year’s I/O we introduced Immersive View, which uses AI to create a high-fidelity representation of a place, so you can experience it before you visit.

A new Magic Editor experience in Photos

Another product made better by AI is Google Photos. We introduced it at I/O in 2015, and it was one of our first AI-native products. Breakthroughs in machine learning made it possible to search your photos for things like people, sunsets or waterfalls.

Making AI more helpful for everyone

From Gmail and Photos to Maps, these are just a few examples of how AI can help you in moments that matter. And there’s so much more we can do to deliver the full potential of AI across the products you know and love.

PaLM 2 and Gemini

PaLM 2 builds on our fundamental research and our latest infrastructure. It’s highly capable at a wide range of tasks and easy to deploy. We are announcing more than 25 products and features powered by PaLM 2 today.

AI responsibility: Tools to identify generated content

As we invest in more capable models, we are also deeply investing in AI responsibility. That includes having the tools to identify synthetically generated content whenever you encounter it.

Updates to Bard and Workspace

As models get better and more capable, one of the most exciting opportunities is making them available for people to engage with directly.

That’s the opportunity we have with Bard, our experiment for conversational AI, which we launched in March. We’ve been rapidly evolving Bard. It now supports a wide range of programming capabilities, and it’s gotten much smarter at reasoning and math prompts.

Introducing Labs and our new Search Generative Experience

As AI continues to improve rapidly, we’re focused on giving helpful features to our users. And starting today, we’re giving you a new way to preview some of the experiences across Workspace and other products. It’s called Labs. I say new, but Google has a long history of using Labs as a way to enable early access and get feedback, and you can start signing up today.

Supercharging Search with generative AI

We’re starting with an experiment in Search Labs called SGE, Search Generative Experience, which uses generative AI.

Making it easy for others to innovate

AI is not only a powerful enabler, it’s also a big platform shift. Every business and organization is thinking about how to drive transformation. That’s why we’re focused on making it easy and scalable for others to innovate with AI.

Driving progress with Android

Our bold and responsible approach to AI can unlock people’s creativity and potential. We also want to make sure this helpfulness reaches as many people as possible. We do that through our computing platforms like Android, and today we shared how advancements in AI can make your phone even more personal, including Magic Compose, Cinematic Wallpapers and Generative AI Wallpapers.

What’s new in the Android ecosystem

At Google I/O 2023, we shared the latest in the Android ecosystem, alongside new AI-powered features that make your phone uniquely yours.

Introducing new Pixel devices for your pocket and home

We are also introducing the Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet for a complete ecosystem of AI-powered devices engineered by Google. The Pixel 7a is available for purchase starting today, and pre-orders are open now for Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

Building the future together

I’ve been reflecting on the big technology shifts that we’ve all been a part of. The shift with AI is as big as they come and that’s why it’s so important that we make AI helpful for everyone.

Visit the IO 23 Website

Are you looking for software developers – look no further we can assist with all your development, design, eCommerce, API and AI integrations.

Artificial intelligence has grown exponentially over the last few months and the technology only seems to be speeding up. AI Developers are creating amazing apps with GPT tools that can utilize AI for anything from writing content all the way to online shopping. For the unversed in the tech sphere, many of these tools are the diving board for a deeper world of AI awareness, bringing us to Baby AGI.

Let’s discover Baby AGI, plus what AutoGPT is..

What Is Baby AGI?

Before we look at Baby AGI we probably need to explain AGI first. AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence. It is a type of artificial intelligence that can do anything a human can do, such as solving problems, reasoning and learning. It is an emerging behavior and definitely grassroots level. We will soon see it explode though.

An example of AGI is a robot that can play chess or Alpha Go, finish a Sudoku challenge, or have a conversation with a human. So far though, AI has been extremely narrow and specialized in what it can do, even if it is faster and better at a human in those specific things.

What I mean with that is that a Sudoku finishing AI can only do that where we as humans can do that and so much more. So there will be many different AI’s that specialises in many different things.

The BabyAGI Python script is an excellent example of how AI can be used to automate brainstorming and task management. BabyAGI is a task-driven autonomous agent designed to create, prioritize, and execute tasks based on the results of previous tasks and a predefined objective.

Baby AGI is was built to accomplish tasks using other programs, learn from them, and then create new things to do based on what it has done before and what is important to the prompter.

How Does Baby AGI Work?

Imagine having a computer program that can do things for you without you specifically telling it what to do. That’s essentially what Baby AGI is. It’s a smart system that can handle any task you throw at it. Baby AGI works through a combination of programs: Chat GPT-4, LangChain, and Pinecone.

When an AI uses other programs or tools to accomplish tasks, it is known as Stacking. Baby AGI is one of the more robust Stacking tools that has been created and built on Chat GPT-4.

Chat GPT-4 is an extremely powerful language model that has gained a lot of popularity in the last few months. Baby AGI uses this language model to generate and understand text inputs. In many ways, it’s the brain, or the comprehension element, of the entire system.

LangChain is more of a back-end program for Baby AGI. LangChain is a framework that enhances the system’s capabilities, especially in task completion and agent-based decision-making processes. Essentially, it allows the system to interact with its environment and be data-aware, pulling information in and processing it for use.

Pinecone is a vector search platform that provides efficient search and storage capabilities for high-dimensional vector data. It stores and retrieves task-related data, such as task descriptions, constraints, and results.

A vector search platform is basically a program that can store and find data that is represented by numbers. These numbers are called vectors, and they can capture the meaning and context of data, such as text or images.

A vector search platform can find similar data by measuring how close their vectors are in a high-dimensional space. This is useful for applications that need to find relevant information quickly and accurately, such as semantic search, recommendations, or anomaly detection.

Together, these programs enable Baby AGI to create tasks around certain objectives, prioritize and perform them, and then generate new tasks based on that completion.

What Is Baby AGI and why it could be a mind-blowing development (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is the difference between Baby AGI and an AI agent?

Baby AGI is a specific example of an AI agent. An AI agent is a general term for any computer program or system that can act on its own, learn from its experiences, and understand its surroundings.

Does Baby AGI use GPT-4?

Yes, Baby AGI uses GPT-4 to complete tasks by generating text-based commands or queries that other programs or platforms can execute, as well as prioritize tasks.

What are examples of AI Agents?

Examples of AI agents include driverless cars and intelligent personal assistants for scheduling and sending messages (think Siri, Google, and Alexa).

What is AutoGPT?

AutoGPT is an AI model based on GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 that can automate multi-step queries which are initially fed via the user in a single prompt. The AI Agent then communicates with OpenAI’s APIs in order to generate a response and feed it back to you in relation to the initial query.

You can find AutoGPT over on GitHub, however, it will require some developmental knowledge to set up. However, some clever developers have created a web version of it named AgentGPT which you can test out for yourself.

What is BabyAGI used for?

BabyAGI is a Python script that is used for AI-powered task management. It automates brainstorming and task management by creating tasks based on the results of previous tasks and a predefined objective. The system uses OpenAI and Pinecone APIs to create, prioritize, and execute tasks.

BabyAGI is inspired by human cognitive development, making it an excellent tool for brainstorming and ideation. It is a pared-down version of the original Task-Driven Autonomous Agent, which means it has a lot of potential for future development.

BabyAGI can also write and execute code, making it an even more powerful tool for developers. It is still in its infancy, and its direction and steps to get there are still being determined.

How does BabyAGI work?

BabyAGI works by operating in an infinite loop, constantly pulling tasks from a task list, executing them, enriching the results, and creating new tasks based on the objective and the result of the previous task. The workflow consists of four main steps:

Task Execution: BabyAGI pulls a task from the task list and executes it.

Result Enrichment: BabyAGI enriches the result of the executed task by using OpenAI’s NLP capabilities to extract information.

Task Creation: BabyAGI creates new tasks based on the objective and the result of the previous task.

Task Prioritization: BabyAGI prioritizes the newly created tasks based on their importance and assigns them to the task list.

The system uses OpenAI and Pinecone APIs to create, prioritize, and execute tasks. BabyAGI is designed to be simple and easy to understand and build upon. It is still in its infancy, and the developers are still determining its direction and the steps to get there.

The Future of BabyAGI

BabyAGI has inspired many projects since its release. It has a space on Hugging Face, a platform for hosting and sharing machine learning models and datasets. The BabyAGI space was duplicated by NeuralInternet. Yohei Nakajima also tweeted a link to the BabyAGI streamlit app.

BabyAGI is still in its infancy, and its direction and steps to get there are still being determined. A key design goal for BabyAGI is to be simple so that it’s easy to understand and build upon. The developers are open to collaboration, and anyone can contribute to the project on GitHub.

Conclusion

My experience with AI so far is that AI is super intelligent and at the same time super dumb. The right way to approach AI is to use it as a tool but you as the human stays in the driving seat. Let me give you an example of what I mean.

If you ask AI the following question.

Q : I left 5 shirts to dry in the sun. It took 5 Hours to dry it. How long will it take 30 shirts to dry.

A : It will take 30 Hours to dry.

Another example.

Q : If I cycle over a bridge that is suspended over nails will I get a flat tyre.

A : It is highly likely that you will get a flat tyre.

So, as you can see, AI is amazing at some tasks but really dumb at very basic questions. I think it is an amazing tool that is just going to get better and as software developers we can take AI and use it to create good. We can code it to do repetitive tasks that we don’t really want to and so much more. It’s an amazing time in the developmental stages of AI and I cant wait to see what’s going to become of it.

If you are looking for developers or web designers to integrate AI into your project then get in touch with us.
The recent release of the ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022 has generated significant public interest. In essence, ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot allowing users to simulate human-like conversations with an AI.

GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, a language processing model developed by the American artificial intelligence company OpenAI. The GPT language model uses deep learning to produce human-like responses. Deep learning is a branch of machine learning that involves training artificial neural networks to mimic the complexity of the human brain, to produce human-like responses.

ChatGPT has a user-friendly interface that utilizes this technology, allowing users to interact with it in a conversational manner.

In light of this new technology, businesses and consumers alike have shown great interest in how such an innovation could revolutionize marketing strategies and customer experiences.

What’s so special about ChatGPT?

What sets ChatGPT apart from other chatbots is the size of its dataset. Chatbots are usually trained on a smaller dataset in a rule-based manner designed to answer specific questions and conduct certain tasks.

ChatGPT, on the other hand, is trained on a huge dataset — 175 billion parameters and 570 gigabytes — and is able to perform a range of tasks in different fields and industries. 570GB is equivalent to over 385 million pages on Microsoft Word.

Given the amount of the data, ChatGPT can carry out different language-related activities which includes answering questions in different fields and sectors, providing answers in different languages and generating content.

Possibilities of ChatGPT

In its current form, ChatGPT cannot replace the human factor in marketing, but it could support content creation, enhance customer service, automate repetitive tasks and support data analysis.

Supporting content creation: Marketers may use ChatGPT to enhance existing content by using it to edit written work, make suggestions, summarize ideas and improve overall copy readability. Additionally, ChatGPT may enhance search engine optimization strategy by examining ideal keywords and tags.

Enhancing customer service: Businesses may train ChatGPT to respond to frequently asked questions and interact with customers in a human-like conversation. Rather than replacing the human factor, ChatGPT could provide 24/7 customer support. This could optimize business resources and enhance internal processes by leaving high-impact and sensitive tasks to humans. ChatGPT can also be trained in different languages, further enhancing customer experience and satisfaction.

It’s important to understand the realistic possibilities and expectations of new and emerging technologies. (Shutterstock)

Automating repetitive marketing tasks: According to a 2015 HubSpot report, marketers spent a significant amount of their time on repetitive tasks, such as sending emails and creating social media posts. While part of that challenge has been addressed with customer relationship management software, ChatGPT may enhance this by providing an added layer of personalization through the generation of creative content.

BabyAGI and AutoGPT is another milestone in the development of AI based tools. This is where we use the AI to develop tasks for itself, just amazing.

Additionally, ChatGPT may be helpful in other tasks, such as product descriptions with ecommerce stores. With access to a wealth of data, ChatGPT would be able to frequently update and adjust product descriptions, allowing marketers to focus on higher-impact tasks.

Limitations of ChatGPT

While the wide range of possibilities for enhancing marketing processes with ChatGPT are enticing, it is important for businesses to know about some key limitations and when to limit or avoid using ChatGPT in business operations.

Emotional intelligence: ChatGPT provides a state of the art human-like response and content. However, it is important to be aware that the tool is only human-like. Similar to traditional challenges with chatbots, the degree of human-likeness will be essential for process enhancement and content creation.

Marketers could use ChatGPT to enhance customer experience, but without humans to provide relevancy, character, experience and personal connection, it will be challenging to fully capitalize on ChatGPT. Relying on ChatGPT to build customer connections and engagement without the involvement of humans may diminish meaningful customer connection instead of enhancing it.

Accuracy: While the marketing content may appear logical, it is important to note that ChatGPT is not error free and may provide incorrect and illogical answers. Marketers need to review and validate the content generated by ChatGPT to avoid possible errors and ensure consistency with brand message and image.

Creativity: Relying on ChatGPT for creative content may cause short- and long-term challenges. ChatGPT lacks the lived experience of individuals and understanding the complexity of human nature. Over-relying on ChatGPT may limit creative abilities, so it should be used to support ideation and enhance existing content while still allowing room for human creativity.

Humans are irreplaceable

While ChatGPT has the potential to enhance marketing effectiveness, businesses should only use the technology as a tool to assist humans, not replace them. ChatGPT could provide creative content and support content ideation. However, the human factor is still essential for examining outputs and creating marketing messages that are consistent with a firm’s business strategy and vision.

A business that does not have a strong marketing strategy before integrating ChatGPT remains at a competitive disadvantage. However, with appropriate marketing strategies and plans, ChatGPT could effectively enhance and support existing marketing processes.
